The Path 1 is part of the 2026 exhibition series reflecting on how one event co-creates the next. A donation of art leads to a meeting. A meeting leads to a commission. A reference image inspires a tangential painting. Does that manifest an inspiring journey? Illness interrupts. Work stops. Attention shifts. Symbols surface.

At the moment they happen, events carry no inherent meaning. They are not lessons, gifts, nor obstacles. Without labels and categories, events retain their full potential: to become constructive or destructive, clarifying or destabilising. Meaning is not embedded in the event itself, but emerges through our response to it.

This work sits alongside the Anthropic Universe series painted in 2024, which explored the physics concept that only a universe capable of developing observers can be observed. The same question resurfaces here from a different angle: if meaning only exists when someone looks for it, then the path itself is partly made by the act of walking.
