Under the Bodhi
Trees in silent sentience.
We speak underground
Inspired by the Bodhi trees at the Vipassana meditation centre near Pomona, this work brings together plant sentience, insight meditation, and human consciousness to explore the interconnectedness of all things.
Sometimes in deep meditation, the meditator seems to vanish, leaving only breath, heartbeat, and the body's interaction with the elements, feeling like a kaleidoscope of leaves, lungs, heart and light.
The upside-down figure reflects the underground communication of plants, the disappearing self and the symbiosis between all life forms.
