2015 — A huge shift in my work!
So many changes this year! It is almost as if I was a completely different painter at the beginning of the year to the end of the year.. Many thanks to all the beautiful, creative souls who have worked with me this year and for all the following years in the continued development of the Sleep series!
I've been reading Tarot cards since my sister gave me a deck in 1981. I do a reading for the day most mornings...
As a bonus for those who are interested, here's my 1 sheet tarot 'cheat sheet', which is handy as a reminder whilst reading. I don't bother with reversed meanings, as I feel they are already inherent in the original meaning of the cards.
“Friends stole a spark from the Sun
to light the subterranean night,
because the eyes of man in dying
search out the Sun; and all breasts
send their last sigh to the light that flies”
— Ugo Foscolo
January 2015, all hearts and flowers... And a large dreamer which happened before the Sleep series really got going...
February in the studio, a month before the Sleep series hit, mid working on the Glance of Brahma and I have a multi-panelled work based on “The Library of Babel” by Jorge Luis Borges on the easel.
Once the Sleep series started, I fell in love with it

The hypnic jerk — that involuntary muscle twitch at the threshold of sleep — caught here as a figure mid-fall, mid-dream.

One can never have too many Rudi Mineurs in the room! Early days of the Sleep series..
