JME
JME the artist, works with traditional pastels and oils to create her twisted
tales of seemingly normal little schoolgirls, their pets and dollies. Drawing
from her own experiences growing up in an all girl's school, JME's darker subtext
touches the viewer and compels them to feel empathy for her characters.
Set in the 1950's her works have an almost Film Noir quality to them and appeal
to a wide range of people, drawing them into the work with strong stories and
a quirky dark humour.
JME studied art at the prestigious Berkenboom technical institute in Belgium.
JME has been exhibiting her oils and pastels for many years and is held in private
collections both here and in Belgium.
JME was recently the 'Feature Artist' for the 2005 Nundah Art Prize and has just
completed a successful joint exhibition called 'Issues' at Gallery Six Nundah
- September 2005.
