Ulysses
Acrylic on canvas
120 × 150 cm, 2018
Rudi's Ulyssesian journey. A portrait of Rudi Mineur, done over three and a half years, during his journey of decision making and choice to put his heart into his home-life and family and give up the crazy and beautiful life of a touring professional acrobat.
Summer 2018, and so much work to love
The year opened with portraits, studio work, installations, generous friends and a lot of momentum. There are periods in life where one really feels the love and support of friends. I am fortunate to have always worked in the creative industries amongst people who are mostly concerned with expressing their burning concepts and are almost rushing through their day to push their ideas further.
Rudi Mineur is exceedingly generous with his time and has come back for a few painting sessions over the three years that I have been working on this painting. The photo of the original session is on the computer screen. Many thanks Beautiful Heart!
Two acrobats are better than one! Natano with the painting of himself sleeping. I felt that it rightly belongs with his family, due to the heart centred nature of the work, so I gave it to them. Natano is a wonderfully generous friend, and his family are of beautiful hearts.
Working on a commissioned painting of a good friend. I absolutely LOVE doing commissioned works because they are driven by the deeper needs and wants of the buyer.
'Emerging' is now in an office already filled with my work! Irish Bentley Lawyers commissioned me a few years ago to fill their offices with murals and paintings. So it was fantastic when they decided to buy this to add to their collection!
A fantastic barter for a painting!
